-- dPollution International Inc. (PINK SHEETS: RMGX), developer of the Start fuel efficiency and emission reduction device, today updated its shareholders on the company's recent business-building activities in an open letter from President and Chief Executive Officer Rocco Di Fruscia.
Dear Fellow Shareholders,
I am pleased to detail for you our key undertakings and accomplishments since the beginning of 2011. During this period, we have continued to focus on providing the market with credible, third-party research into the effectiveness of our Start technology, while also working hard to transition our company to full-scale production and distribution.
Significantly, FIAT Group's ELASIS research center near Naples, Italy, conducted EPA protocol tests on Start and found it improved fuel economy by an average of 15% on a 2003 Fiat Scudo with a 2L diesel engine. See below for more details.
Additionally, multiple field tests conducted on a range of diesel-powered vehicles in four CARICOM countries - Barbados, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago - consistently produced mileage increases up to 35%.
These are outstanding results for an on-board fuel-reconditioning device. In our opinion, they reflect the lower quality of the diesel fuel used in the transportation sector across the region. The less refining - or cracking - that is performed on a hydrocarbon fuel, the greater the volume of long-chain hydrocarbons that will be present in the final product. For this reason, fuel that is less refined should theoretically have greater potential to yield improvements in fuel economy when cracked by an on-board device - and that is reflected in the outcomes our CARICOM field tests.
Building on these findings, our technical team is travelling to India and South America this month to perform scheduled field tests on a number of government and private industry fleet vehicles. We look forward to telling you about the results at the conclusion of the program.
Other noteworthy developments to report for first half of 2011 include:
-- We introduced a more advanced "second-generation" version of our fuel-
reconditioning product under the new brand name Start. The patent-
pending technology employed in the new device uses a high-voltage
electric current to crack long-chain hydrocarbon molecules at ambient
temperature into shorter, lighter more volatile molecules. The result is
lower emissions, reduced fuel consumption and improved engine
performance.
-- Start produced average fuel savings of 15% in two Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) protocol laboratory tests (city and highway) at
FIAT Group's ELASIS research facility in Italy. The tests also showed
reductions in carbon monoxide up to 72%, in un-burnt hydrocarbons up to
43% and in particulate matter up to 73%. The EPA's testing protocols are
carefully controlled methods that include the use of standardized fuels,
laboratories, testing equipment, test cycles and calculations.
-- Start also produced significant emission reductions, increased power and
improved fuel economy in a European Load Response (ELR) protocol test on
a German-made Leopard tank. The ELR, which comprises a sequence of load
steps at constant engine speeds, is the European Union's standardized
emission test procedure. It is also the vehicle emission test procedure
used by NATO. The test was conducted by the Italian Army General Staff
at CEPOLISPE in Montelibretti, Italy.
-- Start has been approved for sale in the European Union with its receipt
of homologation certification under the EU's electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC) Directives 95/54/CE and 72/245/CEE. The
certification, which was granted by Italy's Minister of Transportation
and Infrastructure, confirms that the Start device complies fully with
the EU's technical and safety requirements for electromagnetic
automotive components.
-- Start has been received warranty approval from Daimler AG-subsidiary
EvoBus GmbH for installation on Mercedes-Benz and Setra Buses in Italy.
By certifying Start as "Approved," EvoBus ensures the owners of
Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses that installation of the device on their
vehicles will not void their product warranties. dPollution is in the
process of seeking approval from EvoBus to install Start on all
Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses in every country in Europe.
-- Start has also received warranty approval from FIAT SpA subsidiary Iveco
for installation on its full line of diesel engines for large trucks and
busses. Iveco produces about 200,000 commercial vehicles and 460,000
diesel engines annually.
Sales and Marketing
dPollution entered a three-year business advisory agreement with the Mercosur common market on January 20, 2011. Under the terms of the agreement, Mercosur's Chamber of Industry and Commerce will assist dPollution in building its business and generating sales of Start in Mercosur member countries. We're extremely excited about this development as Mercosur is a South American economic trade zone comprised of four full-member states, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with a combined population estimated at more than 242,000,000. Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru currently have associate member status in Mercosur.
Strengthened Management
In June, dPollution strengthened its management team with the appointment of Jay Almeida to the company's board of directors. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Mr. Almeida is a specialist in international business development, with a focus on Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada. From 1979 to 1991, he held executive positions with a family of banks in Latin America and the Caribbean, where he focused on business development, startup growth strategies, marketing and sales and product management. Mr. Almeida's accomplishments in his banking career included increasing revenues by more than 300 percent over a 10-year period.
Summary
Thus far, 2011 has been a very busy year for our team, and we expect to have a lot more news to report in the coming weeks and months. We have not wavered from our stated objective of building a world-class clean tech corporation with global distribution of our proprietary technologies and products. At a time of intense concern about the future of our environment and daily worry about rising gas prices, dPollution is uniquely positioned to both contribute to improved quality of life and serve the interests of its shareholders.
As always, I look forward to providing continued updates on dPollution's progress and thank you for your ongoing confidence and support.
On behalf of the Board of Directors
Yours truly,
Rocco Di Fruscia, President and Chief Executive Officer
