Does history repeat itself? Well it could one day. Most of us remember the Wall Street crash of 1929 and all hell broke loose again in the Fall of 2008 in the Financial Markets and lasted through 2009. Who was the tip of the ice berg? Lehman Brothers?  Then Washington Mutual was the next sacrificed lamb then came several others. The bear market was on! Everyone was trying to catch a falling knife. There were days the markets was swinging 300 to 500 and close to 1,000 points in intra-day trading. Banks were folding up weekly and traders were doing their research on their stock picks daily trying to get a nice swing trade put together.

Take notice The Dow Jones was at 11,400.41 in this picture below before the collapse started in 2008.  Kind of tough to believe when you look at history knowing the D.J. crashed to 6500.00 in March of 2009 and The Dow Jones is back over 12,000 on July 15th 2011.  But thanks to the U.S. Government and several trillion dollars to bring the markets back up.

There was a day in the fall of 2008 I was searching for stock picks so i bought me some shares of MS(Morgan Stanley). MS was known for it's wild swings everyone thought it was going bankrupt as well. I thought my trading for the day was going to be negative at the end of the session because support had broke on the stock. So I sat and wait wanting some good news to hit the wire and it did.  I can remember (MS) rocked on that news. If I can recall correctly it was news about the stimulus plan and the Dow Jones went ballistic.

So added more MS to my (long) position and when the DJ hit +500 I added even more. It was like 15 minutes left till the closing bell that day and the DJ was still going higher. So I added even more MS to my position. The D.J. hit +600, then +700, +800  I sold MS right before close and turned it into a nice positive day for my account. The Dow Jones rallied nearly 1,000 points that day.

It was nice to be part of History that day in 2008 and 2009 it was a roller coasters for me. But like I said before you got to get the best stock picks you can find. The education i learned then was priceless. I was in a full blown BEAR market. Volatility was so high that the media could spark a 200 point move in a matter of minutes in the Dow Jones on news. Now we sat back and watch the markets move a fraction of what it did then.
