The largest single-site integrated PV power generation project in the world was connected to the grid on Sunday, yesterday.
Invested and constructed by the China Energy (OTCBB:CHGY) Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), this on-grid PV power station is seated on the awning of Hongqiao railway station, Shanghai, along the Beijing-Shanghai express railway, with total investment of 160.58 million yuan and installed capacity of 6,688 kW.
The CECEP is described as the only central state-owned enterprise that specializes in energy-saving, emission-reduction and environmental protection.
With floor area of 61,000 square meters, this project involves 23,910 solar panels, whose annual generating capacity reaches 6.3 million kWh, equal to 12,000 households' electricity consumption for a whole year. It is estimated the running of this project can reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 6,688 tonnes and save standard coal by 2,254 tonnes.
